Recommendation
Over time, Pantai Morib had been eroded due to both coastal impacts and human interactions. Not only that, it is visually unattractive and poorly managed. This has made Pantai Morib lower in term of quality, thus reducing the amount of tourists and beach goers. So how can Pantai Morib be sustainably managed? By using similar strategies to what Australia had done to their beaches, as well as focusing on the waste management at that area, it is possible for Pantai Morib to be better managed, which in turn will attract more tourists and beach goers to visit and enjoy.
There are several ways for Pantai Morib to be managed in a sustainable way. The first is to put up several bins up at the grassy area where people will pass by when leaving the beach, which will be convenient for them. By putting up more bins, people would not use the excuse of not seeing trash bins and not throwing away their trash. Putting up signs on keeping the beach clean can also raise awareness and encourage people to throw their trash away properly. Not only that, it would be a good idea to employ a good beach waste management company to clean the beach at least twice a week. The community could also work with some organizations to create events and volunteering jobs to clean up the beach every once in a while. Not only would this help keep the beach clean, it could also be an opportunity for families to bond and meet new people.
The second proposal is to have the local government and community to fund for beach nourishment. The nourishing of Pantai Morib won't only just widen the beach, it will also reduces the impact of erosion. It is recommended to nourish up the beach more at the mangroves area as it is quite steep over there due to longshore drift, moving sediments towards the promenade. By nourishing up that area, it would be safer for people to wander up that area and it wouldn't erode that area away. Also, the sea defences should be fixed up because some parts had been eroded. It is important to fix up those sea defences so that it won't be dangerous to the people that visit and it would be able to withstand erosion to protect the land above.
If both the local government and the community work together to fix up those sea defences and educating people not to litter, it is possible for Pantai Morib to be sustainably managed. With the extra recommendation of renourishing the beach every once in a while, it will also attract tourists and beach goers. With the increased amount of people visiting, Pantai Morib could really be called Malaysia's Gold Coast as it was first intended.
